MEXICO, Canada and Norway are just some of the countries you can visit through the Young Farmers youth movement.

Pembrokeshire YFC held an international evening on Monday (Oct 12) at Agriculture House, Haverfordwest, where local clubs represented a country which members are able to visit on exchange visits, home stays and group trips.

Host Tom Jones, from Martletwy YFC is currently chairman of Wales YFC’s International Committee and is himself a veteran of two over sea trips through the YFC.

Tom said: “The YFC provides the ideal opportunity for young people to travel, and meet like minded people from other youth movements across the world.

“YFC has links to numerous states in America and Northern Ireland, Finland and Mexico to name but a few. These travel opportunities are often cheaper than travelling alone and there are grants and scholarships available to help fund you on these trips.

Each YFC represented a country at the international evening, as they brought food, drink and even music from their adopted country. Pembrokeshire YFC President Dill Williams and her husband Mostyn were on hand to judge the clubs displays in a light hearted competition, and Tiers Cross YFC won with their very patriotic Welsh display.

Pembrokeshire YFC chairman Richard Summons said: “I urge everyone to get involved in YFC travel as I regret not doing it when I was younger.”
