AFTER a collision on the A40 on Wednesday night which has left a teenager with serious injuries, a petition has been set up to get a bus company to reinstate their former bus route.

The petition, which already has over 120 signatures asks that Richard Bros bus company return to their previous route through Trecwn.

It follows a collision between a 16 year-old boy and a car that left the teenager with serious injuries.

It is understood the boy had just got off a bus shortly before the collision.

Formally known as the 412, the T5 bus service, operated by Richard Bros cut the number of visits to Trecwn on January 5.

Kayleigh White, who started the petition has called for the bus service through Trecwn to be reinstated: “Get the bus service back through Trecwn, it’s just a three minute bus ride and doesn’t put countless lives at risk," she wrote.

Caroline De Havilland commented on the petition saying: “Lives are being put at risk because of people having to disembark the bus on an extremely busy road.”

Rebecca More commented: “I’m signing because I was brought up in Trecwn for many years and the thought of having to walk home from the A40 is terrifying for many reasons.

“Please put it back on route.”

Former Trecwn resident Angharad Haden, added: "This is a disgrace, the people of Trecwn shouldn't have to walk half a mile, nearly a mile to get home off a bus every day.

"It is not safe as there are no street lights.

"It’s ridiculous that it has come to a point where someone has got hurt."

A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “Peak hour journeys on the TrawsCymru T5 service continue to operate via Trecwn village.

"Outside of the peak periods, Pembrokeshire County Council provide a scheduled shuttle bus linking the bus stop on the A40 with the village.

"In light of the incident on Wednesday we will carry out an immediate review of these arrangements with Pembrokeshire County Council.”

Following the collision, police said: "Police are investigating a road traffic collision which occurred just after 6.15pm on 18/11/15 on the A40 Fishguard to Letterston road, near the Trecwn turnoff.

"A motor car and a pedestrian were involved in the collision.

"The male pedestrian has been taken to hospital in what is described as a serious condition.

"The driver of the vehicle has also been taken to hospital for treatment.

"The road has been closed with diversions in place.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in that area at the time is asked to contact police on 101”
