FISHGUARD and St Davids Coastguard teams were called out to Trefin yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) after a holidaymaker suffered a fall onto rocks.

They received the emergency page at 1.45pm and St Davids fire crew was also asked to assist.

The man in his 60s was suspected to have suffered a broken femur and hip.

He had been staying in a cottage in the village with his wife and had decided to go out for a walk down Aberfelin Bay.

Due to his location and the amount of pain he was in, the coastguard teams decided it was best to call the coastguard rescue helicopter from St Athan.

The man was winched to safety and taken to Withybush Hospital for further treatment.

Local David Gardner said: “I was speaking to his wife during the rescue. She was very calm and collected.

"She asked me to get some photos of her husband being winched onto the helicopter. She joked they might as well get something out of the incident.”
