FISHGUARD and Goodwick Town Council is urging residents to be vigilant to cold callers.
Town clerk, Cath Bannister received four separate telephone calls from locals yesterday (Wednesday) who said they had been contacted by someone claiming to be from the town council.
The caller asked about accident claims and personal circumstances.
The clerk said: “Please be aware that these calls are not generated by the town council,” and warned residents not to speak to the callers or give out any personal information.
“I have passed all the details through to the local police,” she said, and urged people to advise vulnerable members of the community about the potential scam.
If you receive such a call, police are advising you to report the number to 0300 123 2040.
