THE newly established Greening Fishguard and Goodwick group is calling on people of all ages and abilities to help them make a difference.
A meeting last autumn saw 40 locals discuss what could be done to improve the town’s communal garden and leisure areas.
The Greening Fishguard and Goodwick group soon emerged, and about a dozen or so people have made a commitment to get involved.
Group chairman Julia Moffett said: "We really want the townspeople to take ownership of this exciting new community venture. We need people with knowledge of plants and planting, with maintenance skills, imagination and enthusiasm. If you can dig, sow, clip, rake or clear up - or possibly be prepared to make a pot of tea for a group of thirsty volunteers - we really would love to hear from you."
The group is planning a programme of activity for 2016, working in partnership with Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council.
Group co-ordinator Bob Grimshaw added: “We have already taken on the clearing and planting of some areas within the towns that were looking a bit sad and neglected, and we hope to be able to do a whole lot more. More hands to the pump will get the job done a lot sooner. Please do join us."
If you would like to get involved contact Lynda Duffil (Goodwick) on 01348 875094, Bob Grimshaw (Fishguard) on 01348 831426, or Julia Moffett (Lower Town) on 01348 872672.
