A NEW attraction which showcases the wonderful world of bugs has gained national recognition.

Dr Beynon’s Bug Farm in St Davids was named Best Start Up Business at the recent FSB WorldPay Business Awards.

It opened last October and includes the UK’s first tropical bug zoo, an edible insect restaurant, bug art gallery and gift shop.

Dr Sarah Beynon said: “Just being a finalist was a huge achievement in itself and I went to the awards ceremony in Westminster with no expectations whatsoever.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to those who have helped the business get to where it is today, most notably the PCNPA Sustainable Development Fund, Welsh Government Tourism Investment Support Scheme, UnLtd, Pembrokeshire Lottery and HSBC Bank."

She also thanked her loyal team, parents and partner Andy Holcroft, founder of Grub Kitchen.

Dr Beynon added: “I am also extremely grateful for the local support that we have received since we opened. Local return custom has been exceptional, with lots of people already purchasing Bug Farm season tickets for the coming year. We are now busy putting in an educational indoor play barn and landscaping the Bug Farm Trail, which we hope will provide additional, year-round facilities."
