SHOPS and businesses in Narberth are showing their Valentine’s Day love for the planet - thanks to the town’s WI members.

As part of a national environmental campaign for action on climate change, the ladies from Narberth WI have crafted dozens of green hearts and distributed them around the town.

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes is a founding member of The Climate Coalition (TCC) - a group of over 100 organisations and over 15 million people working for action on climate change.

One of TCC’s core campaigns is centred on Valentine’s Day and aims to show people that climate change is affecting the things in their life that they love.

Knitting, sewing and paper-crafting green hearts has been an enthusiastic project for Narberth WI in recent weeks, and member Jean Morgan said: “A number of us are grandmothers and great-grandmothers, and we are concerned about the future for the next generations.

“We’re a very active and sociable group, and we had a lot of fun getting together to make the green hearts.

“We had a great response from the shops and businesses in Narberth, as well as people out in the town, so we are really pleased with our efforts.”
