A CONVOY of classic cars has made its way through Pembrokeshire today (Thursday) on the first leg of a charity run to Ireland.
This is the third year that the Celtic Classic Tour has taken place and, once again, the event will be raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), via the Dean Mason Memorial Fund, and Meningitis Now.
“We’re hoping to at least match the £5,000 we raised last year,” said one of the organisers, Norman Mason.
The tour began at The Snooty Fox Inn, near Martletwy and the 35-strong convoy - featuring vehicles that first hit the road between the 1950s and the 1980s - made its way via Narberth and the A40 to Fishguard.
The drivers, riders and passengers boarded the afternoon Stena Line sailing to Rosslare before travelling on to their base in Dungarvan, County Waterford.
During their time in the Emerald Isle, the classics enthusiasts will take part in social events, runs and displays organised by Irish classic car clubs, including a display of vehicles in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle - once home to the Earl of Pembroke.
*The run is due to be featured in S4C’s Heno at 7pm tonight.
