A 90th birthday greeting to Her Majesty The Queen blazed out from a beacon at Tenby Harbour yesterday (Thursday) evening.
The beacon was one of a network throughout Great Britain being illuminated to mark the royakl birthday, and the honour of lighting it in Tenby was given to town mayor, Councillor Paul Rapi.
Around 50 people gathered on the end of the harbour pier for the ceremony, which was opened by town crier Teifion Powell. Serjeant-at-Arms, the Rev John Morgan, offered a prayer of thanks for the Queen's long service, and God Save the Queen was played on cornets by Adam Hensman and Peter Greenway.
The event was jointly organised by Tenby Town Council and Tenby Sea Cadets, and the cadets concluded the ceremony by offering 'three cheers for The Queen' in traditional naval fashion.
