Two local action groups are asking people in Fishguard and Goodwick to help them raise funds to revitalise Lota Park.

The Save Our Playgrounds Campaign and the Lota Park Skate Park Group have been working hard during the winter months to get prices for play equipment and skate park facilities.

Campaigners have several fundraising events planned including a concert in St Mary's Church next Wednesday, May 18, a fundraising dinner in Peppers and a treasure hunt as part of the August summer festival.

Fishguard grandfather Andy Carver is also cycling 262 mile from Yorkshire to Fishguard in July to raise funds for the park.

The groups now have quotes and plans from equipment providers and looking to hold an information day in the near future.

"We have made great progress and it is still a daily delight to see the numbers of young children who are playing on the new equipment we secured for Goodwick Parrog," said Cllr Dani O'Connor of the Save our Playgrounds campaign.

"We need more volunteers to join me to help organise fundraising events, and to prove to funders that this is something the whole community is behind."

"We are working hard behind the scenes to get this park plan going as well as working closely with Cllr Pat Davies regarding the skate park."

Cllr Davies added that young people in the area were "clamouring" for a new skate park.

"They have all been inspired by the developments in Haverfordwest, but they want a skate park on their doorstep. We must not let them down," she said.
