Fishguard Town Hall was a hive of excitement and activity on Tuesday, as around 300 locals flocked to the Fishguard and Goodwick- What's in it for You event.

Organised by Communities Together, the event showcased more than 40 organisations which contribute to life in the twin towns.

Visitors to the event enjoyed a free buffet from Transition Café, music from Fishguard Folk Club, drama from the young people at Point and Theatr Fforwm Cymru and an exhibition of amazing primary school artwork.

The pupils' work will be displayed in Fishguard Library over the summer, with Ysgol Wdig's Goodwick Tapestry and bunting also going on display in Button Tree Lane.

"People had had a chance to make links with other organisations and individuals, and a good number of people said they had received a healthy level of interest in the services and opportunities they offer," said organiser Marc Mordey.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, to the team of people who organised and delivered the event and especially to the many local people who gave up their day on a completely voluntary basis.

"Fishguard and Goodwick, What's In It For You? I would say, a great deal, and a community enriched by people who care about and for their fellow citizens, and show it in many wonderful ways."

Mr Mordey added that, although the Communities Together project finishes in New Year 2017, he hoped that the event would continue.

"There are enough people working in the community of Fishguard and Goodwick, who have a passion for community building, the confidence and expertise to deliver, and the experience to do so," he said. "I think that you have all really got something going and you are not going to let it slip away."
