ANGLE RNLI lifeboat crews had a busy time recently, with three call-outs in five days.

On July 14, the Mark Mason lifeboat launched at 11.49am to evacuate a 72-year-old man from Skomer Island who had collapsed.

The crew arrived on scene and a crewmember went ashore to assess the casualty, who was in the care of the Island’s staff.

The man, and his wife, were transferred to the lifeboat and taken to the Mackerel Stage at Milford Docks where ambulance personnel were waiting.

Once the casualty was handed over, the lifeboat was released and returned to station 1.35pm.

The lifeboat was launched again on July 18 at 6.09pm to an 8.5 metre yacht, with two people on board, which had engine failure and was becalmed, off Stack Rock.

On scene, a tow was rigged and the yacht was taken to Dale Anchorage where the anchor was deployed. The Mark Mason was released and returned to station at 7pm.

The following evening, July 19, the lifeboat was launched at 8.09pm to assist an eight metre motor boat, with two people on board that had engine failure, off Mill Bay.

On scene a crewmember was transferred onto the motor boat to assist with the recovery of their anchor, which had to be cut free as it was fouled on an obstruction on the seabed.

The boat was put into an alongside tow and taken to the pontoon at Lawrenny yacht station, where it was safely secured. With no more assistance required, the Mark Mason was released and returned to station at 10.30pm.
