AN ambitious project to provide a truly-dramatic viewing experience for visitors to Pembrokeshire, has crossed the half-way mark, with more than a week remaining for donations.
Pembroke Town Walls Trust launched the crowdfunder campaign www.crowdfunder.co.uk/climb-through-time-pembroke/ at last month’s Party In The Castle event at Pembroke Castle.
The campaign, with a goal of £5,000, will raise money for a staircase and viewing platform that will rise up from the Tabernacle Gardens linking it to the Tabernacle building and Main Street.
The viewing platform will stand 40ft above The Commons creating a truly dramatic experience with stunning views along the medieval stone walls and out across the south of the town to the bordering hillsides.
To date, more than £2,600 has been raised.
The project is using flexible funding and will receive all pledges made by 9am to July 30.
Organiser, Pembroke county councillor Daphne Bush said: “Your donation, if possible, will contribute towards the creation and completion of an outstanding community venue of historic interest for local people and tourism alike. A vision of an event in this garden on a Summer Evening or at Christmas time. How magical, we can achieve it with public support.”
