PUPILS from St Mary’s RC school, Pembroke Dock recently received a letter from Buckingham Palace. The pupils wrote letters to the Queen in April congratulating her on her 90th birthday and telling her about the birthday celebrations that were taking place in the school for her birthday.

The children received a letter signed by her Lady in Waiting saying that the Queen was touched by their kind words and that she wanted to thank the children for their messages.

The Queen had also been interested in the questions they had asked and enclosed an information sheet for them to read. The children were so excited to receive the letter.

“We wrote letters to the Queen congratulating her on her 90th birthday and we were lucky enough to receive a letter back,” Said Miss McNally. “It was a very special letter”.

The children had been learning about the Queen’s life and her six decades of service to the country.

Pupils from the school also recently enjoyed a day at the beach in Tenby.

They enjoyed a morning on the beach exploring the rock pools, building sand sculptures and playing team-building games. They then enjoyed a chip lunch in Fecci’s Chip Shop as part of their reward for earning over 1000 Values Tokens.

In other school news there was all sorts of fun at the school fete, with a wide range of stalls and attractions.

Year 3 and 4 ran a popular nail painting stall and the Year 5 and 6’s football game proved to be a huge success. Justin from the South Pembs Weighlifting Club, firefighters from Pembroke Dock Fire Station and officers from Pembroke Dock Police Station also attended.

Headteacher Julie Frazer said: “Despite the weather our summer fete was still a great success as the children had a fun filled afternoon. We raised over £600 so a massive thank you to everyone who supported us and gave gifts and prizes”.
