POLICE are investigating a fatal collision near Pembroke on Saturday afternoon, August 13, which led to the death of a 76-year-old woman.

The collision happened at about 3.30pm, near to Gilead Methodist Chapel in Maidenwells.

A blue Volkswagen Polo and the 76-year-old female pedestrian, named locally as Betty Colley, were involved in the collision.

Sadly, she sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

The road was closed for approximately six hours.

The Wales Air Ambulance was among the emergency services called to the scene on Saturday.

Two crews from Pembroke Dock fire station also attended, making the crash scene safe.

Speaking after the death, Hundleton County Councillor John Allen-Mirehouse said: “It’s a tragedy, any man or woman’s death is a tragedy; Betty was a member of the Roche family, an old Angle family, and the Colley family are well known in Pembroke.

“All I can do is express my extreme sympathy for both sides of the family, it’s a bit of a shock, just a tragic loss; out thoughts have to go to the two families.”
