A lifeboat launch for a young swimmer on holiday in Tenby proved all in vain.

The nine-year-old, who was staying in a caravan at Kiln Park, told his parents he was going for a swim.

Concerned at his absence, the worried mum and dad alerted emergency services thinking their son had got into difficulties after taking a dip in the sea.

Tenby inshore lifeboat started a search along the South Beach, with crew members making enquiries along the shoreline, but no sign was found of the boy.

But the story had a happy ending, as it turned out that although the child had gone for a swim, it was in the pool at Kiln Park.

Said a Tenby RNLI spokesman: “Some ten minutes after beginning the search, news came through via Dyfed Powys police that the young boy had fortunately been found at the swimming pool at Kiln Park.”

The lifeboat, which had been launched shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, was stood down and returned to station at 6.15pm.
