A Pembrokeshire brewery has hopped its way into the Good Beer Guide just 18 months after its first real ales went on tap. Tenby's Harbwr Brewery - whose four core ales are named after iconic boats that have graced Tenby harbour - was opened by directors Mike Evans and Doug Waters last summer. Connected to town centre pub The Buccaneer, the brewery has been established in an old industrial shed in the quaint Sergeants Lane, which links St Julian Street to the harbour, The sympathetically-converted building is not only a five-barrel brewery but a visitor attraction, offering its own Hops & Hwyl experience tours which conclude with craft ale and Welsh tapas. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)'s Good Beer Guide 2017 is the nationally-respected guide for beer connoisseurs and the Harbwr Brewery was recommended for inclusion after being regularly monitored and visited by the organisation's members. They also spoke to head brewer Richard Johnson at length about his ales, which are also sold on tap and in bottles throughout Pembrokeshire and beyond. Said Doug Waters: "We are very proud of our small team of brewers and support staff. "We have come such a long way in 18 months - perfecting recipes, brewing consistently good beer, opening the tap-room and getting the Harbwr brand and story our there. "To be recognised and endorsed by the Campaign for Real Ale at this stage is just brilliant." While the Harbwr Brewery gets its first mention in the CAMRA guide, there are repeat listings for its neighbour, The Buccaneer, and sister pub, The Hope & Anchor. Members of the Pembrokeshire branch of CAMRA visited the brewery on Saturday to present it with its accreditation pack. Said vice-chairman Nick Miles: "We are pleased to support a brewery which has sought to produce a range of styles that appeal to a growing demand for real, locally-produced ales." ?
