Fishguard flickered into light and Goodwick got glowing last week, as the twin towns lit up for Christmas.

On Thursday evening Goodwick lights were switched on, accompanied by Ysgol Wdig. Parents were warmed by mulled wine, while children met Father and Mrs Christmas on Goodwick Square.

On Friday Fishguard enjoyed another fabulously festive Light Night. The evening saw the new-look Fishguard lights switched on, music from Goodwick Brass Band, a lantern procession through the town and local shops open late and offering Christmas treats.

In the town hall a Christmas market raised funds for local schools and charities, Cor Abergwaun entertained the crowds and youngsters enjoyed festive crafts in the library.

Father and Mrs Christmas met hundreds of local youngsters, providing them all with a free gift.

Around 1,000 people attended the event.

The event, now in its second year, was the brainchild of town councillor, Lucy Wilkes, supported by the Lions, the RNLI, the town council and community groups and individuals.

"It went really well," said Lucy. "It was well supported by the community and Father Christmas was busy.

"Thanks to everybody who helped get it together, especially the town clerk who worked hard to get the new lights, and everybody who came."
