A protest will take place in St Davids this evening (Monday) against a planned state visit by US President Donald Trump to the UK.

As part of the nationwide day of action organised by the Stop Trump Coalition, protesters plan to take to the streets of the UK’s smallest city, to object to the tax-payer funded state visit being offered to the US leader.

The protest will take place in the Cross Square, St Davids, from 6pm to 8pm, to coincide with the debate in parliament on the subject of the visit.

Organisers said: "St Davids may be small but there are plenty of people in the area who object to Trump’s policies, and our government’s eager readiness to appease him.

"Allowing so-called President Trump to stand alongside our head of the state, the Queen, will give the world the impression that Britain and its people endorse his actions.

"The public outcry, including this protest, proves that is far from true. Our government needs to take a stand and make it clear that Britain will not stand alongside a world leader so demonstrably sexist, racist, and divisive.

"The biggest protests will be in the big cities, but even the UK’s smallest city will be making it clear: Trump is not welcome here.’
