CHILDREN in Monkton have brand new play equipment to enjoy.

Instead of one 25-year-old multi-unit - which was showing its age - youngsters can now spend their time on a variety of installations including double swings and a see-saw.

The new equipment has been installed by Pembrokeshire County Council at a cost of £30,000 under its play equipment replacement programme

Local county councillor, Pearl Llewellyn, said that the children were able to choose the new equipment themselves.

“I was able to show pupils at the nearby school a shopping list of play installations and they were able to pick which units they wanted up to a certain value,” said Cllr Llewellyn.

“The old multi-play unit which had been in Monkton since the early 1990s had very little use left in it and was not economical to repair.”

Besides a gull-wing see-saw and double swings – which allows use by an adult and toddler at the same time - the new equipment comprises a spinner unit and new multi-play area.
