A Pembroke Dock man has been accused of arson with intent to endanger life, following an early morning fire on Tuesday.
Matthew Malcolm Hearne, 35, of Commercial Row, appeared from custody before Haverfordwest magistrates on Wednesday morning.
No pleas were entered and the bench heard that the alleged offence was so serious it could only be dealt with by a crown court.
Hearne was also charged with possession of 1.4g of cannabis.
Police and the local fire crew were called to a blaze at a block of flats in Commercial Row at around 5am on Tuesday.
Hearne was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Swansea Crown Court on May 26.
Mark Layton, defending, indicated that Hearne would be denying the offence.
