FIRE crews from Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Narberth and Pembroke Dock spent almost six hours at the scene of a dramatic house fire in Haverfordwest yesterday (Wednesday, June 21).

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Holloway at around 1.45pm.

Surrounding roads were closed by police, and neighbours evacuated, as crews dealt with the flames coming from the roof of a semi-detached house.

Thick black clouds of smoke could be seen from all around, billowing out of a blackened hole in the roof.

The fire is believed to have started in a rear upstairs bedroom of the two-floor property and had spread to the attic and that of the next-door property.

Thankfully no-one was inside the house at the time, and no injuries have been reported.

VIDEO: 'I saw flames shooting out the roof'.

One witness told the Western Telegraph: "I saw flames shooting out through the roof, it looks like it started in a top bedroom.

"There is smoke billowing out of the window, and it's black and acrid.

"It looked like the fire brigade had it under control, but then more flames came out.

"The roof has a big hole in it, and the flames are licking through it."

Much of the roof was destroyed in the incident, and the cause of the fire will not be investigated.
