A MAN with a broken ankle was rescued of a north Pembrokeshire beach earlier today.

At around at 12.36pm (Friday, June 23) St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat, with its volunteer crew, headed to a 40-year-old male who had suffered a broken ankle, and needed to be evacuated from Porthmelgan beach.

Once on scene and with the aid of St Davids coastguard team, the casualty was placed onto the lifeboat and conveyed to the nearby Whitesands beach, where they were met by Fishguard coastguard team who carried the male to a waiting ambulance, for conveyance to hospital.

With this tasking complete the lifeboat returned to station and rehoused at 1.45pm.
