CONSERVATIVE MP Simon Hart is one of four MPs under investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.

Mr Hart was re-elected for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire in May with a reduced majority of 3,110.

An investigation into an alleged breach of paragraph 15 of the MPs' code of conduct started in May, but no decision could be made during the dissolution of Parliament.

This paragraph states: "Members are personally responsible and accountable for ensuring that their use of any expenses, allowances, facilities and services provided from the public purse is in accordance with the rules laid down on these matters.

"Members shall ensure that their use of public resources is always in support of their parliamentary duties.

"It should not confer any undue personal or financial benefit on themselves or anyone else, or confer undue advantage on a political organisation."

Other MPs subject to an inquiry are Labour’s Keith Vaz and the Conservatives’ Michelle Donelan and Chris Davies.

Mr Hart told the Western Telegraph he had been advised by the commissioner not to comment, but that she would 'publish full details in due course'.
