NEXT month sees the return of the Friends of Portfield School fun day.

Last year's Family Fun Day Out proved to be extremely popular and raised more than £2,000 for the Haverfordwest school.

It meant that the friends could refurbish the Lower School playground, with the help of the council.

This year's event, on July 1, has been expanded with more activities, stalls and attractions for all ages.

The aim this year is to raise a massive £10,500 to install a new wheelchair swing in Upper School and the friends say "we are always up for the challenge". The swing will be the first of its type in Upper School helping our pupils to develop their balance, coordination, gripping and spatial awareness, while enjoying the same activities as the other children, so no one is left out.

On July 1, at Portfield's Lower School you can find activities such as gladiator podiums, rodeos, bouncy castles and Pedro the Penguin from Folly Farm.

As well as several stalls including jams, wooden crafts, jewellery and fudge to name but a few. There will also have a BBQ selling 100% beef burgers, hotdogs and vegetarian options, as well as an ice cream stall. Tea, coffee and cakes are also available.

This year reptile friends from Silent World will also be visiting, with their knowledgeable handlers to answer any questions about the reptiles and, if you're brave enough, they may even let you hold some.

All are invited to come along. The Fun Day starts at 11am with the summer raffle, with a £100 grand prize, being drawn at 2.30pm. Entry is free.
