A cyclist competing in this weekend’s Long Course Weekend event has sustained serious injuries and been airlifted to hospital, following a collision with a car.
The incident took place at on the A4139 at Manorbier, at approximately 11:55am today (Saturday, July 8).
It is understood the cyclist involved was an experienced female triathlete who has taken part in several similar events.
Following the incident the road between Tenby and Jameston was closed from midday until just after 5pm.
Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the collision and appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesman said:
“A collision between a cyclist and a motor vehicle occurred on the A4139 at Manorbier, at approximately 11:55am on Saturday 8th July.
“The cyclist, who was taking part in the Long Course Weekend Sportive, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
“We would appeal for any witnesses to this incident to please contact us on 101, quoting reference DP-20170708-159.”
