A CHARITY supporting people in Pembrokeshire affected by brain tumour and cancer held its third five-a-side football tournament in memory of its founder Mike Mason.

Mike had a passion for football so the annual event has become a fitting way to celebrate his life and raise funds for the Thorne Mason Trust.

Thirteen teams from around the county competed against each other at Sir Thomas Picton School astroturf on June 25 in a bid to win 2017's Mike Mason Cup.

The event was a great success raising over £450 for the charity. During the course of the day there was also a raffle, refreshments stall and keepie-uppie competition.

The winners cup was presented to the Football Golf Pembs team followed by the raffle draw at the Bristol Trader, Haverfordwest where proprietor Brian Harries kindly provided complementary hot food for all taking part.

The Thorne Mason Trust currently offers a range of support to people in Pembrokeshire who are affected by a brain tumour or cancer including their families and carers.

This year, they have also made their second donation of £10,000 to Brain Tumour Research, fulfilling Mike's dream of funding a PHD student to carry out research into brain tumours at Cardiff University.
