DOZENS of families flocked to Milford Haven Fire Station on Saturday afternoon in the warm sunshine to enjoy the station's increasingly popular open day.

Firefighters from Milford Haven - alongside colleagues from Haverfordwest - set up several interesting and interactive displays that enthralled local youngsters at the Yorke Street station.

They were able to test their aim with the pump hoses, help to rescue a 'casualty' from the water, tackle the smoke house and watch the chip pan fire display.

Youngsters also got to help lift a car from an injured party using air bags, explore a fire engine and try on firefighter equipment.

The aerial rescue pump from Haverfordwest showed its capabilities with a dramatic display of its firefighting ability at height, as it drenched the station's training tower.

As well as fun the day also raised money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Milford Haven Firefighters said later: "We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the fire station and to everyone who helped out making the day possible."
