IN a desperate bid to prolong the life of a young father a Haverfordwest family is funding raising for specialist treatment.

Henry Partridge, 25, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November last year and although chemotherapy has not helped ground-breaking cannabis oil injections have improved his chances of having some success with immunotherapy.

However this will cost £20,000 and his family have only two weeks to raise the money to pay for it.

Stepdaughter Lauren Mcloughlin has set up a justgiving page to try and raise the funds because the treatment will give Henry a bit longer with his family, including three-year-old daughter Lucie.

Lauren said: “We were told he has four months to live, it’s either this or nothing. I’m trying to do anything I can to get as much money as possible for the treatment.”

Lauren researched cannabis oil use and the family paid for it to be administered at Singleton. It improved Henry’s chances of immunotherapy working, increasing his chance of success from 5% by lowering his protein levels.

“Immunotherapy won’t kill it off because the cancer is so big,” said Lauren. “If this can help him live longer, why shouldn’t I try? I’m trying to get the word out there and arrange a last minute fundraiser.

Lauren’s justgiving page states: “Henry is a brilliant daddy, step-dad, son brother and grandson and has been fighting this horrible disease with everything that he has. This week we have been told that Henry can have immunotherapy treatment in two weeks which is good news, but unfortunately it will cost £20,000, money we don't have.

“I know there are bad people in this world, but I also know there are good (I like to think we are) and I am hoping that any good people can find it in their heart to donate.”
