DOZENS of Pembrokeshire farming's finest donned their best attire and braved the blustery weather for Ladies' Day on Wednesday.

The event was a great chance for the women in farming to catch up over prosecco and canapes and raise money for a very worthy cause.

President's lady, Ann Cole, chose to support RABI the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, at this year's event. With a raffle raising £1,200 and a further £300 presented to the charity from the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society.

Guest speakers on Wednesday morning were inspirational, young female entrepreneurs who were diversifying and contributing to a vibrant west Wales rural economy.

Thea James and Becky Hood of Mamgu Welsh spoke about how they grew their bespoke Welsh cake business from experimenting in Thea's mum's kitchen into a successful enterprise catering at all sort of events and festivals and producing ten different flavour Welsh cakes.

Fashion designer, Clare Johns, spoke passionately about her journey from a Pembroke Dock council estate to a highly esteemed designer using fabrics produced on the family farm to create clothes which have graced the pages of Tatler and British Vogue.

Hannah Phillips of the Cozy Barn also exhibited her range of agriculturally inspired fabrics and soft furnishings.

"It has been a wonderful morning," said president's lady, Ann Coles.

"I would like to thank everybody for their support and kindness in my first Ladies' Day.and to thank people for their generosity towards RABI.

"I am very proud that we had our young entrepreneurs here. I believe that this is our future and we need to promote our enterprising young business people who are building up rural businesses here in West Wales."
