BOTH Fishguard and Goodwick Milford Haven RFC are safely into the quarter finals of the Pembrokeshire Knockout Cup after both came through their Round One matches this week.

On Tuesday, it was Seagulls who opened the competition away at Aberaeron.

And in an entertaining clash, the visitors prevailed 37-22, with tries from No 8 Simon James (2), flanker Chris Shousha, outside half Kial Keane, centre Mike Jenkins and flanker Mark George.

Keane and centre Sam Kurtz added a conversion apiece, with the latter also kicking a penalty.

Then last night (Friday), flanker David Round crossed four times as The Mariners notched a 77-0 home win over St Davids.

Round crossed for the game's opening try, before further first half scores from winger Craig Thomas (an 80 metre interception), No 8 Ben Groves, outside half Efan Morgan, Round again, and centre Dan Jenkins.

It was Jenkins who sliced through again early in the second half, before winger Jamie Lewis sped over twice, and Round added his third and fourth scores on his return to First XV action with the club.

Morgan and half back partner Dan McClelland completed the try scoring late on, against a St Davids side who deserve credit for again fulfilling their cup obligations without hesitation.

Lewis added six conversions despite the high winds at The Obs.

Fishguard will now play the winners of Pembroke and Cardigan in the last eight, with Milford at home to holders Tenby United.
