Welsh League, Division One:

Haverfordwest County 1-1 Cwmbran Celtic

THIS was a game the Bluebirds dominated from start to finish, only to find themselves denied the win by an inability to finish chances.

The Blues sent in 18 shots to Celtic’s four, and won eight corners to none.

But although the home side got on top from the first whistle, it was Cwmbran who broke upfield in the eighth minutes and experienced striker Josh Bull out them ahead.

It was just this kind of strike which seemed to elude the Bluebirds for the next 80 minutes.

Sam Rodon and Sean Pemberton had matters in hand at the back, and full backs Matthew Broome and Alaric Jones were able to push forward.
Through the midfield and in attack, there was plenty fluent movement, with Dan Williams looking dangerous as a fourth forward.

The equaliser came in the 28th minute as Celtic keeper Lewis Watkins strayed off his line, and Rodon sent in a huge hoof from halfway, and the ball cannoned off the bar only for Dan Williams toknock in the rebound.

In the second half, further home goals seemed inevitable.
But the Bluebirds had shots blocked, chances miscued, and were thwarted by Celtic keeper Watkins.

Next Saturday The Bluebirds host Monmouth Town, kick-off 2.30pm, before they entertain Goytre United in Round One of the Welsh Premier League Cup, on Tuesday, August 29, 7.30pm kick off.
