A LITTLE girl from Pembroke Dock triumphed in an international pageant last week.

Five-year-old Mia Lilly from Llanreath, joined by her mum Chloe Priestley, took part in the international finals for Miss British empire 2017 in Buckinghamshire, held on August 24.

Mia came away with both the mini Miss Cardiff 2017 and the Little Miss Sunshine titles.

This British Empire organisation, an international pageant, prides itself in finding and nurturing the talent of aspiring models, singers, dancers, actors and presenters.

It was founded in 2011 by former Miss Great Britain and Hollywood actress 'Liz Fuller'.

Although Mia has done a few photo shoots before she has never been in a pageant.

Mia is representing mini Miss Wales in 10 finals and is excited to influence others of her age to follow their dreams.

Proud mum Chloe said: “I’m very proud of her; she had TV training with Ian, the director of Sky News, and ex-Bond girl Donna. She will hold her title for the next 12 months until she competes again.

“She loved every moment; we just want to thank everyone for all their support over the past few weeks.”

Mia wanted to show other children her age that dreams can come true and that's it's not all about makeup and dressing up; she wants to show children that it's natural beauty that matters.

Speaking before the competition, Chloe said: “She may be going tomorrow but she will be going with natural beauty. We are really nervous and anxious for her but I am sure she will make us all proud.

“She has worked really hard to get here and I am just wanting to show other parents that it is possible and you don't have to spend a fortune. Mia also wants to show other children her age that dreams can come true.”
