A MACMILLAN Coffee Morning in memory of a popular north Pembrokeshire artist will be held on Fishguard’s north breakwater on Friday.

Sea Trust cetacean spotting organisation is holding the event in memory Freddie s'Jacob, the partner of Sea Trust founder Cliff Benson, who lost her year-long fight with pancreatic cancer at the end of August.

“Our Fishguard Surgery and District Nurses, were wonderful on the medical side and the help Owen Duggan of Macmillan gave in sorting out benefits was crucial in taking away financial worries which greatly helped her quality of life and well-being during that period,” said Cliff.

Shortly after Freddie’s diagnosis last year Sea Trust held a Macmillan coffee morning on the north breakwater which raised nearly £400 for the charity, as well as providing an opportunity to spot porpoises and diving gannets.

Sea Trust is repeating the event next week, Friday September 15. Participants can meet at the Stena Car Park to catch the Stena bus to the breakwater at 10. 30. There is free parking at the Station or next to and behind Tesco's

“Our Coffee morning has a bit of a twist, as you need to bring your own coffee and cakes to share,” said Cliff.

“We ask for a minimum donation of £5 which is a bit of a cheek as you will be providing the coffee and cakes, but it’s a great cause and we need to make sure others can have Macmillan's support in the future.”

Cliff thanked Carl Milne and Stena Line for arranging to bring the bus over from Rosslare and allowing Sea Trust to hold the event.
