Nelson Cavaliers Over 40s 1-3 Hakin United Over 40s
GOALS from Michael McCarthy, Nigel Delaney, and Paul 'Jonah' Jones ensured Hakin United Over 40s got their Welsh Veterans League Campaign off to a winning start away to Nelson Cavaliers this afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 early on, The Vikings levelled before the break when McCarthy cut in from the right hand side, and cracked a shot home from 20 yards out.
The visitors then missed a great chance to lead midway through the second half when Nigel Delaney had a penalty saved - but the same player made amends five minutes from time, as his cross into the area from a wide free kick evaded everyone and nestled into the far corner of the net.
And then in the final minute, Hakin sealed the points when Jones latched onto a ball forward from Gary Dawes, and duly rounded the keeper to make it 3-1.
