THERE will be pancakes, poetry freedom and fun in Fishguard Library and Ffwrn this Friday to celebrate National Poetry Day.

In the run up to Friday's event, which is being held the day after National Poetry Day, Fishguard Library will be hosting poetry workshops for talented young people, from Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Holy Name and Goodwick. The young writers will work on creating poetry around this year's theme of Freedom.

On Friday, September 29 at 4.30 pm there will be a Poetry Tea Party in Ffwrn where the young people from the workshops, along with family and friends are invited to come and read their poems out.

All the young people who participate will be treated to complimentary crêpes and drinks by FFwrn and there will be prizes for the most popular poems, donated by the Rotary Club of Fishguard and Goodwick and by local novelist, Helen Carey.

At 7.30pm on Friday there will be a Poems and Pancakes night at Ffwrn MC'ed by Marc Mordey. This follows on from a series of successful Poems and Pancakes evenings held in Ffwrn over the last few years by Communities Together.

The evening will include a collection for the Paul Sartori Foundation in memory of Sheila Duffill, who died earlier this year. Sheila was a great supporter of the Poems and Pancakes evenings and always read at all of them.

Anyone who enjoys listening to and reading poetry is invited to come along to the event and join in. You can use your own work or read out a favourite poem, Offerings on the theme of freedom are encouraged but all offerings will be gratefully received.
