TWO best friends are putting on a black tie evening of fizz, feasting and fundraising next Saturday, October 14 to raise money for two causes close to their hearts.

The event at the Pavilion, Haverfordwest, on Saturday, October 14 at 7pm, is being organised by Emily Williams and Laura Venables. It will raise money for Shalom House in St Davids and Great Ormond Street Hearts and Lungs for Kids.

Tickets included a three course meal, a complimentary drink on arrival, entertainment and a prize draw.

Laura has chosen to raise funds for Shalom House as her father, Nigel, who sadly died last year visited it regularly for respite care. Nigel had Multiple Sclerosis and Shalom House became a huge part of his life, and somewhere where he looked forward to going.

"The care they provide is exceptional, and the support they give to families who require it is second to none," said Laura. "The charity relies solely on donations from the public and needs the funds to continue providing this incredible service."

Emily has chosen Great Ormond Street Hearts and Lungs for Kids as a close family member, Belle, was diagnosed with a rare incurable lung disease at just two years old.

Since then Belle, now nine, has endured thousands of hospital visits. In the last 12 months her health has deteriorated drastically and she now relies on 24 hour oxygen, a feeding tube and a wheelchair to get around.

Belle has recently been placed on the waiting list for a double lung transplant with Great Ormond Street.

"GOSH Hearts and Lungs for kids work tirelessly to support families like Belle's to prepare for the transplant and will continue to do so after the operation," said Emily. "This will hopefully give Belle the chance to live a healthy and happy future."

The evening is set to be a fantastic one, filled with entertainment, glamour, and hopefully lots of money raised for the two charities.

Tickets are £40 each and available from Furniture Directory in Freystrop.
