A FUND set up by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has contributed almost £150,000 towards projects across the county this year.
A total of £144,557 was awarded to 19 different projects through the park’s Sustainable Development Fund in 2017.
Projects funded through the scheme were varied, including Pembrokeshire Outdoor Schools, which helps to connect school pupils with the natural world, the conservation and upkeep of Newport’s Medieval Kiln, and new signs and information panels at Broad Have Boardwalk.
“It is a very important source of funding to start to support projects as they get off the ground and then they are able to deliver sustainable development on the ground,” said National Park officer Emma Taylor, at the park authority’s meeting on Wednesday, September 27.
The projects funded were felt to have had economic, social, or environmental benefits to Pembrokeshire.
The authority noted the report, with Councillor Mike James saying: “My compliments on the way you have worked with on education projects.
“Education does play a really big part in seeing an affect once the money has been given out.”
