Championship:

Bedlinog v Narberth

Few teams go to Pontypool and win these days, but regardless, Narberth would have been disappointed to have come away so soundly beaten last weekend.

They will feel they have a far more winnable away game tomorrow, against a Bedlinog team with one win and four defeats from their five league games so far.

The Otters start James Stephenson at 15 for the first time since the opening day of the season, with Nick Gale switching to the wing with Ryan Davies unavailable.

Liam Hutchings comes in on the other wing in place of Jack Parkinson – and in the pack, props Bradley Davies and Tom Slater return, and flankers Dewi Williams and Sean Jenkins also start with Rich Rees switching to No 8.

Despite the seven changes, The Otters will be favourites to win on the road and keep in touch with the leading pack.

Narberth: James Stephenson, Nick Gale, Kieran Jones, Paul Davies, Liam Hutchings, Jonathan Rogers, Rhys Lane, Rhys Davies, Dan Smith, Tom Slater, Jake Simm, Alex Jenkins (captain), Dewi Williams, Tom Powell, Rich Rees.

Replacements: Bradley Davies, Rhodri Owens, Steffan Phillips, Ianto Griffiths, Joseph Hutchings.

National Plate Round One (ties involving Pembrokeshire sides):

Fishguard v Penclawdd

The Plate can prove a difficult competition for teams in Division Two, knowing there is little chance of glory at the end of it as they compete against teams from a tier above.

Fishguard are a prime example of that today, hosting a Penclawdd team sixth in Division One West.

Again, The Seagulls opt to go with flanker Chris Shousha in the centre as they look to cover injuries to key backline players James Griffiths and Mike Jenkins.

Regardless of the result, they will want a decent display to take into their ‘must win’ home game with Tumble next Saturday.

Fishguard: Edward Bendall, Mathew George, Gareth Adamson, Chris Shousha, Thomas George, Alun George, Andrew Williams, Ryan McVeigh, Gavin Walsh (captain), Andrew Morrilo, Richard Hunter, Gwilim Evans, Jordan James, Luke Freebury, Mark George.

Replacements: Jason Davies, Neil Perkins, Jac Evans, Liam Wilkes, Mathew Harries, Kevin Ormonde.

Llanelli Wanderers v Tenby United

The Seasiders bounced back to form with five tries in their 33-7 win over Aberystwyth on Saturday, their first win since they hammered today’s opponents 41-22 on the first day of the season.

How seriously Chris James and his coaches choose to take the Plate competition remains to be seen, but if they name a full strength side, they should prevail against a Wanderers team who have also lost the three games that have followed the defeat at Heywood Lane.

Llanybydder v Crymych

Speaking of the Wanderers, they caused controversy at Crymych last week, claiming they were unhappy with the state of the pitch, leading to the clash being postponed late in the day.

It denied the Preseli Men the chance of a much needed first league win, but they do at least have a great chance to get a first success of the campaign here.

I suspect Llanybydder’s priorities will lie with staying up in Division Two West, and their 96-0 loss at Whitland two weeks ago set alarm bells ringing.

However, they did bounce back with a 12-8 home win over St Clears last Saturday, but should Crymych stay focussed, they should go through with room to spare.

St Clears v Tumble

Another side whose main aim is surely cementing a place in Division Two West is St Clears themselves.

That said, The Saints should fancy their chances here, at home to a Tumble side bottom of the aforementioned league after four straight defeats.

Mike Jones may make changes with next week’s match with Loughor in mind, but he will also want some winning momentum.

Whitland have been awarded a walkover in their tie against Pontyberem

National Bowl Round Two (ties involving Pembrokeshire sides):

Neyland v Cefneithin

On paper The All Blacks have started slowly, but their last two league defeats, against Milford Haven and Aberaeron, were intense battles that Steve Martin's men felt afterwards they could have won.

In that respect, with the pressure off, they won't mind a crack at Cefneithin tomorrow, and a chance to build on recent displays as well as their victory in the last round at Llandovery 2nds.

However, Cefneithin hammered an albeit under-strength Milford in Round One, and have won two from two in Division Three West Central C, so will provide a tough test.

Pembroke v Aberaeron

With in-form No 8 Sam Smith leading the way, The Scarlets returned to winning ways by hammering Tregaron last week.

Like their last round against Haverfordwest, this tie doubles up as an insight into league opponents they will need to beat later in the season to maintain a title charge.

The Aberaeron pack has proved strong thus far, and they really dug out a win at Neyland last week.

I suspect Pembroke will prevail, and that beating the Mid-Wales team away in the league, will prove considerably harder than doing so in the Bowl.

Pembroke Dock Quins v Nantgaredig

The Quins are much improved, and with the likes of Thomas Doyle and Josh Norman in midfield, have the potential to hurt any side with ball in hand.

But they will need parity up front against a Nantgaredig side that has lost just once in league and cup action this season.

Ossie Boswell's side is building, and win or lose, the coach will want a positive display to take into a big home game with Haverfordwest on October 14th.

Cardigan v Crymych 2nds

Cardigan were due to play their re-arranged first round game with Ferryside, but the latter's withdrawal as opened up an enticing derby in round two instead.

These two sides have never met, and The Teifisiders have again named their side early and appear close to full strength.

And they won't want to lose at home against the second team of their local rivals, so I don't envisage any complacency.

Credit to Crymych, they have defied the notion second team rugby is struggling with regular games, and impressed in their round one win over Newcastle Emlyn 2nds.

They have nothing to lose and will always throw the ball about, so this could be an entertaining watch.

Cardigan: Llyr Jones, Ben Rogers, Siôn Hughes, Emyr Harries (captain), Gruffydd Lewis, Dion James, Tomos Jones William Brice, Luke Palmer-Davies, Ben Hughes, Dean Harries, Rob Connolly, Gethin Wyn-Jones, Dafydd Wyn Rotie, Daniel Evans.

Relacements: Gruff Payne, Sion Phillips, Llyr Griffiths, Kieran Hurley, Owain Rees, William James Delve.

Laugharne have been awarded a walkover against Llangwm.
