THE thorny issue of car parking charges in Cardigan has again raised its head.
At a meeting of Cardigan Town Council, a letter from an angry resident demanded to know why parking charges imposed by Ceredigion County Council were so much more expensive than those in neighbouring Pembrokeshire following a visit to Fishguard.
The resident asked: “Why is there such a huge difference? What does Ceredigion County Council do with the extra money that Pembrokeshire doesn’t need? It seems Ceredigion is way overpriced.
“It costs me £8.70 per week to park in Cardigan and that soon adds up over the course of a year. I cannot afford to pay an up-front lump sum. Parking should be affordable to everyone to support the businesses in town.
“If one county council can afford to charge 80p for a day, then why can’t ours?”
Councillors agreed to forward the complaint to Ceredigion.
