LIFESAVING training has been given to members of a Pembrokeshire branch of the British Heart Foundation at their latest meeting.
Members of Haverfordwest/Milford Haven British Heart Foundation Cymru branch have held a Nation of Lifesavers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training session.
Alan Carrington, chairman of the branch said: “It is so important that we know how to conduct CPR as it is a vital skill.
“We had such a great response from the last event that we have decided to do another while also raising vital funds for BHF Cymru.”
The branch are also organising a pie and chip supper at the Haverfordwest Golf Club to fund vital heart research on Friday November 10 at 7pm.
Across the UK, there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospital every year, but the survival rate is less than 1 in 10.
BHF are the nation’s heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research.
Jayne Lewis, BHF Cymru’s local fundraising manager said: “It is our branch members who get our work off the ground to find even more discoveries into heart defects and treatments. Funds raised by our supporters locally will help us in this fight.”
