West Wales Intermediate Cup Round One:

Carmarthen Stars v Hakin United

As first round ties go, this is an intriguing one.

Hakin have lost just once in league and cup action thus far - and go to a Carmarthen side who have won all four league games in their regional Premier League.

Kristan Bennett's men have been guilty of not converting chances of late, but there has been no doubting their ability to create them, and the manager will be delighted with the manner in which youngsters like Ben Fawcett and last week's match winner, Jack Wilson, have stepped up to the first team.

The Stars have former Narberth defender Kyle Quartermaine in their ranks, but despite their good league start, go in off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Caerphilly in the JD Welsh Cup last Saturday.

Regardless, with two of the best from their respective counties involved, the result of this may spark a few debates when comparing the strength of the Pembrokeshire League to the Carmarthenshire one.

Senior Cup Round One:

Kilgetty v Neyland

What was already a banana skin tie for Neyland now appears even trickier - with The Nomads poor in their last two games, being thumped 10-2 by Clarbie Road before losing 3-1 to an average Kingsbridge Colts team in the West Wales Cup.

All three Kingsbridge goals came from set pieces, and Neyland can ill afford to be off the boil defensively again here, with Kilgetty top of Division Two having won six and drawn one of their seven league games.

A Henry Lawrence goal maintained their winning run against St Ishmaels last week, and ironically, that is who the winner of this one will meet in Round Two.

Llangwm v Narberth

I suspect Llangwm's priority this season is to consolidate in Division Two, but the pressure will be off them here against top flight side Narberth.

The Bluebirds are starting to enjoy themselves however, climbing up the Division One table with three straight wins, and hammering CK Suburbs 10-0.

Dafydd Wright added three more to his impressive goal tally for the season in that win, with Chris Brown also getting a hat trick.

If the visitors are at their best, they should prevail.

Senior Cup Round Two:

Clarbeston Road v Fishguard Sports

The 2016/17 runners up will view this a big chance to make the quarter finals, and whilst they were second best at Hakin last Saturday, they again proved their ability to mix it with the big boys as they took the lead before being narrowly edged out 2-1.

Having said that, Clarbie will be all too aware of the dangers of the underdog, given they too were in the second tier during their cup final campaign.

And Fishguard will be buoyed by last Saturday's cup win over Carmarthenshire Premier League side Pontlliw.

The Sports have capable players, with Jordan White and Steve Lewis two to impress last week - although to have any chance here, they will have to be a rock solid to stop the likes of Michael Turpin, Tom Reubens, and Jason Griffiths doing damage.

Cosheston v Angle

It goes without saying the visitors start this clear favourites.

Division One side Angle are already nine points clear of the bottom two, and unless that gap closes drastically, can afford to have a real go at the Senior Cup.

Providing Scott Richards and co keep their focus, they should be in the last eight after tomorrow with the home side in Division Five.

Having said that, Cosheston have done well to get this far, beating higher league opposition in both the Preliminary and First round.

As the old adage goes, they have nothing to lose.

Hundleton v Broad Haven

This tie won’t be easy to predict, despite Hundleton's shock 7-5 win away to Monkton Swifts in the first round.

Dylan Davies was the hat trick hero that day, and he will be key again tomorrow.

The home side's league form has been up and down mind, winning four games but losing three, and Broad Haven have started their own Division three campaign well.

They have won five straight games since losing on the opening day, and have the ability to threaten through the likes of Julian Wood, Josh Beer, and Ian Harvey.

Hundleton will start favourites but it could be a tricky 90 minutes for them.

Merlins Bridge v Solva

The Senior Cup holders are yet to lose in league or cup games so far, and it's difficult to see that changing tomorrow.

They hammered Landore 12-1 in the West Wales cup last weekend, and with the likes of Nathan Greene, Will Haworth, Adam Hawkins and Ashley Beck all in form, should have too much going forward for a Solva side currently 11th in Division Two.

The visitors do have the likes of Finn Isles and Joe Elliott capable of causing problems, but would need a huge collective effort to spring a shock at The Racecourse.

Pennar Robins v West Dragons

Last week would have done Pennar the world of good, bouncing back from 2-0 down to beat Clydach Sports 3-2 in the West Wales Cup.

That proved they have a fighting spirit, and although he may be cup tied for tomorrow, The Robins seemingly been further boosted this week by announcing via Twitter they have signed Sam Southcott.

These two met in the league just two weeks ago, with The Dragons winning 8-3, but it was typical of their season that they could not take that form into the West Wales Cup - beaten 2-0 by Malsters Sports last Saturday.

It's a one off tie and Chris Lloyd will eye a chance to further boost some momentum to take into the league, and whilst Steve Allen and Lee Palmer's side will clearly fancy their chances, they will be made to work harder at Bush Camp than they were at The Pavilion by The Robins.

Saundersfoot Sports v Carew

Saundersfoot already have a Division One victim in this season's Senior Cup, with goals from Sam Coleman and Richard Cope helping them win at Milford United.

But despite being at home, it will be a lot harder tomorrow against a Carew side that continued their good form with a 5-1 West Wales Cup win over North End last time out.

The singing of Sam Christopher is already proving worthwhile, with three goals in two games, and providing they are not complacent, The Rooks should make the last eight.

Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One (2.30pm):

Goodwick United v Lamphey

Goodwick have a chance to go top of the table tomorrow, and on paper you would fancy them to keep their unbeaten league run going against Lamphey.

Chris O'Sullivan has been prominent in recent weeks, Adam Raymond is in contention to make a first start since his early season injury - and youngsters like Jordan Griffiths, Rowan Nicolson, and Iestyn Evans continued their good form at St Clears in the West Wales Cup last week.

Lamphey did put in one of their best displays of the season last time out in the league, coming within a whisker of beating Carew, but Alan Kitts' side will again have to step up to get something at Phoenix Park.

Monkton Swifts v Herbrandston

Monkton's season has been up and down, but they come into this one following a 5-1 win at Wales Tartan last Saturday.

It is typical of Herbie's luck thus far that with a depleted team, they led 2-0 at Glynneath Town, but then missed further chances before going down 4-2 after extra time.

But Oliver West's side can ill afford to dwell, and need to start picking up points or they will be in a relegation dogfight right until the end of the season.

The Swifts themselves have notched three wins from five league games, and I envisage a real battle here with both teams eyeing a chance of a win.
