The Food Warehouse is set to open at Cross Hands next week.

The new 8,844sq foot supermarket has created up to 30 new jobs and will offer value, family-favourite products across frozen, chilled, fresh, grocery and homeware lines.

The new store, at Cross Hands Retail Park will open on October 17.

The first 100 customers through the doors - which open at 9.00am - will receive a complimentary gift as part of the store’s open day, prize giveaway.

A spokesperson for the store said: “From freezers and air fryers, to virtual reality goggles, the people of Cross Hands should be sure to get there early.”

The Food Warehouse, launched three years ago by Iceland, to combine the convenience of bulk buying with value fresh and frozen food deals.

Speaking about the new Cross Hands store, Managing Director Richard Walker, commented: “The Food Warehouse is a new store format, responding to the needs of shoppers by providing bulk-buy options alongside our frozen, fresh and chilled foods.

“Our expertise lie within frozen food, but we also offer a wide range of meats, fish, vegetables and ready to cook meal solutions for all.”

Cross Hands store manager Russell Bailey added: “Alongside a great range of products at consistently low prices, we have special ‘When It’s Gone, It’s Gone’ deals, where customers can purchase selected homeware products at great value.

“Our team is looking forward to welcoming people to the store.”

Two weeks ago, The Guardian revealed the bargain brand retailer B&M would be joining the lineup of stores at the development.

Plans for the new development, published by Fletcher and Morgan and Conygar, also feature Pets at Home, Jenkins Bakery, Domino’s Pizza and Costa Coffee.

Carmarthenshire county council leader Cllr Emlyn Dole said: “This is fantastic news for Cross Hands, bringing further opportunities for residents to shop and a magnificent jobs boost to the area.

“Cross Hands Growth Zone has built a firm foundation over recent years with the Food Park, new link road, the Strategic Employment Site as well as the Cross Hands West development which will strengthen the business and employment opportunities for the area.”

Iceland’s The Food Warehouse’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9.00am to 8.00pm, and Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm.
