PEMBROKE and District Male Voice Choir held a concert at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pembroke Dock on Sunday October 8 from 7.30pm.

Despite the drizzly evening the turnout was a cheery audience, who filled two-thirds of the church.

Following the welcome and prayers from Father Jude, substituting for Father Valentine, who was in Nigeria due to a bereavement, Compere Phil Lloyd took the reins.

The Choir's "Comrades in Arms" began the concert with three items with the acoustics in the church enhancing the performance.

Baritone chorister Ron Rees gave a solo rendition of "Mountains of Mourne" followed by a duet from Jenny and Alyson, an arrangement of "The Lord's My Shepherd".

Phil announced with sadness that Vice President Mr Ted Abbott had passed away the previous morning.

Ted and his wife Lynette would travel from Essex every year to hear the choir perform and "Morte Criste" was dedicated to his memory.

The Choir finished with "Rock-a-my Soul" as an encore, sang with participation by the audience.

The conductor was Chris Lloyd, accompanists were Jenny Griffiths and Carol Rees, and the assistant was Aly Griffiths.

A variety show will be held at the Pater Hall on December 8 at 7.30pm to raise funds for the Choir.
