A DOG rescued by Green Acres Animal Rescue has settled into a new home after waiting for more than a year for the right family.

Ezra, a Great Dane-Bull Mastiff cross lived at Green Acres in Little Haven for a little over 12 months, but has found the right home after spending 5 months in the care of Jane and Allen Card.

“She is a big dog, but lovely,” said Mikey Lawlor, manager at Green Acres who explained Ezra came to the rescue as a stray.

Ezra was a poundee dog brought to the rescue centre by Pembrokeshire County Council, and when no-one came forward to claim her, she spent nearly 13 months at the centre.

“Unfortunately she didn’t like other dogs but she loved people. She was with us for over a year and we tried lots of appeals to find the right home.”

Ezra was homed once but came back to the rescue centre shortly after.

“As long as a dog is homeable we will wait to find that right placement for them. Bigger dogs are not as desirable as smaller dogs,” added Mr Lawlor.

Her new owners Jane and Allen believe she is around 6 years old and say she has bonded with them and become quite comfortable in their home.

“It looked as if it was becoming quite difficult to find her a home because of her size,” said Allen.

“She is quite a remarkable dog. It is an absolute joy to see her bouncing around the garden, because she is such a playful dog.

“For somebody to say they would never take a rescue dog is to miss out on so much,” added Allen, who thanked the volunteers at Green Acres for their hard work.
