The final week of ‘Your Town, Your Say’ – a series of community meetings held this October in towns around Pembrokeshire.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council, the meetings aim to give people the opportunity to feed their ideas and suggestions into an ongoing Authority review of domestic waste and recycling.

The meetings will also give people the chance to find out more about a review of the County Council’s face-to-face facilities in Pembrokeshire’s main towns.

These include places like customer service centres, youth centres, community learning centres, libraries and leisure centres. Six meetings have already taken place since the beginning of October, and the final four meetings will take place next week – at Pembroke Dock, Tenby, St Davids, and Fishguard.

The meetings will be taking place between 7pm and 8.30pm as follows: Monday, 23rd October: St John’s Hall, Pembroke Dock

Tuesday, 24th October: Tenby Community Learning Centre.

Wednesday, 25th October: City Hall, St Davids.

Thursday, 26th October: Town Hall, Fishguard.

The meetings are taking place because as with all local authorities in Wales, Pembrokeshire County Council is facing significant financial pressures.

In addition, increasingly challenging targets for recycling are being placed on all local Councils.

Failure to meet targets could see substantial fines levied on local authorities.

The County Council is therefore looking at new and innovative ways of providing services within local communities which put less pressure on the public purse.

The meetings are being chaired by Cllr Bob Kilmister, Cabinet Member for Finance, and officers from the Environment and Property departments are in attendance to discuss ideas, and provide information on the reviews taking place.

Cllr Bob Kilmister said: “We very much hope that local people will take advantage of the opportunity to give their views on these important issues.”

The previous meetings have taken place in Haverfordwest, Crymych, Narberth, Neyland, Milford Haven, and Pembroke.
