A 'FIREBRAND fundraiser' from Begelly has raised £2,000 for Withybush Hospital's cancer day unit.

Raydene Waters and her daughter Pauline Davies recently organised another highly successful fundraising social evening in aid of the Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal.

Having recently lost a close family member to cancer, Raydene was keen to raise as much money as possible for the appeal having seen the wonderful new Haematology and Oncology Day Unit (formerly known as the Chemotherapy Day Unit) now in place at Withybush.

She said: “The charity continues to support the patients and nursing staff who work in the unit so we wanted to add to the funds we have already donated to help to make a difference.

"The social evening was hosted by the RAOB Club in Kilgetty with the entertainment provided by Clive Edwards and Trish, so we would both like to thank them all and the many others who attended and helped make the evening such a success."

Charity trustee Bernie George was invited to receive the money raised and to provide an update on how the charity was now supporting the new Unit and its patients.

He said: “Raydene and Pauline have amazed us once again with their work in ensuring such a brilliant event.

"To date, they have raised a total of £4,885 from various fundraisers they have held and we will work with the nursing team to ensure that we get best value for their donations.”
