ADVICE, support and coffee was on offer to the scores of visitors at MP Simon Hart's 50-plus fair in Pembroke Dock's Pater Hall recently.

This was the second event that Mr Hart has organised in the constituency aimed at helping older residents to find out about issues such as volunteering opportunities, fire safety, free community transport and much more.

"Our first event in Tenby was such a success that we put on this one in Pembroke Dock just seven months later - there was a terrific uptake from service providers who were keen to attend once again," said Mr Hart. “We also had nearly 100 residents through the door.”

Stallholders included the Stroke Association who were carrying out free blood pressure checks, the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services who were letting people know about volunteering opportunities, Pembrokeshire Cancer Support and organisations that help with both mental and physical wellbeing later in life.

"I was delighted that so many people found the event worthwhile and enjoyed attending, it's not only about finding out about what help is on offer but it was also a good opportunity to catch up with friends and neighbours," added Mr Hart.
