9:55am Tuesday 24th July 2007

A Pembroke Dock man has been charged with attempted murder following a suspected knife attack in a residential area of the town last week.

Kelvin John Bull-De'ath, aged 49, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates court on Friday.

Bull-De'ath, who gave his address in court as 43 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock, appeared in court wearing a white T-shirt and trousers.

He also had a prominent wound dressing on his left arm.

Mr Bull-De'ath spoke only to confirm his name and address.

No application for bail was made by defence solicitor Alun Morgan, and Bull-De'ath was remanded in custody to appear before Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday, July 31st.

The alleged victim, Marion Powell, aged 52, is still in Withybush Hospital, but in a stable condition.

The police were called to an incident at Charles Thomas Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday, July 17th, where Ms Powell was found.

Bull-De'ath was found in a nearby field and had also sustained injuries. Both were taken to Withybush Hospital.

Dyfed-Powys Police say inquires are continuing.

Ms Powell is a well-known and well liked resident of Pembroke Dock.

As well as working as a nurse at Withybush Hospital for a number of years she has also been involved with assisting adults with learning difficulties.

Colleagues from The Anchorage Centre, Pembroke Dock said Marion is a kind, helpful and forward-thinking person who enjoyed the challenge of working with adults with special needs.
