PORTFIELD School have gathered together a huge food parcel to donate to Pembrokeshire Foodbank as they celebrate the first anniversary of opening their Haverfordwest charity shop.

The school has gathered total of 181kg of food items to give towards the Trussel Trust, which runs the Pembrokeshire Foodbank.

More than 117kg of food were given at Portfield School’s Harvest Festival celebration, and a further 64kg were donated through their charity shop.

Tesco has also agreed to add to the donation by providing £304 so the Trussell Trust can carry out its services.

The school’s charity shop, Trysorau, at 2 Old Bridge, Haverfordwest, is about to celebrate its first birthday, and the staff who run it are planning to hold a party on Saturday, December 16.

The charity shop gives students at Portfield the chance of work experience, and they have been involved in running the shop, from designing the layout to banking the money at the end of each shift.

Two students at a time work in the shop and are helped out by two members of staff.
